Fitchburg is a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin, in Dane County. It combines the conveniences of city life with the appeal of a rural community, linking Wisconsin’s famous countryside to the city of Madison.
Fitchburg was incorporated into the Madison Metropolitan Area in 1983, after a ruling from the Wisconsin State Supreme Court. Since then, the city has developed family-oriented neighborhoods, expanded its technology and economics, and designed green spaces and parks for residents to enjoy. It now boasts a growing artistic community and some of the best bike trails in Wisconsin.
Fitchburg covers about 35 square miles with a population of just over 25,000. There are about 10,000 households, a third of which have children.
